Who is Targeting Metro State Students?

Walking around campus it is hard not to notice the screaming over-filled bulletin boards covering the hallways. It is almost impossible not to at least notice some of the brightly colored or outrageous posters.

The ad campaign that I found the most interesting was one called The Additive Wars. The posters around campus consisted of weird little blob-like superheroes that represented a food additive like Aspartame, or High Fructose corn syrup. The poster would simply say Wanted: Aspartame or Wanted: High Fructose Corn Syrup. What worked about this campaign is that it was catchy, then when you look at it you are not bombarded with text, the simplicity of the ad makes you want to know more. When I accessed the website I noticed that it is still very basic, and their Facebook page is still very new. They are just starting this campaign but I think it has potential since the Food Industry is taking a lot of heat right now with campaigns like this one.

Another campaign that I saw on a campus bulletin board was one that supported the Peace Corps. The photo on the poster was interesting and it made you stop and stare for a minute. In bold letters the poster said "The corner office can wait, some corners of the world can't ". I thought it was a decent ad since it targets students that might be graduating soon. These students may be looking for alternative options, and the Peace Corps is certainly one of them. The poster definately includes emotional appeal, and I think it catches your attention easily and sends a message that resonates with you.
